...for anyone who just needs to draw outlines.. XARA is an excellent program. While there, you can also cut and paste as if you were using scissors. It is really neat. I`ve been using XARA now since about 1998. Great for kids !!

I downloaded Krita and it wouldn't respond to the touch screen on my computer, is it not meant for touch screens?

I got here looking for "simple" drawing programs. I mean simple; basic lines and geometric shapes, and modifiable Text, that's really all. Don't want to create still-life sketches, modernist masterpieces, animation, CGI, just quick, brief drawings - what you'd do for a friend to illustrate a problem/situation/directions. These are all artist progs - way too much. Anyone know a suitable - truly simple - program?

Krita and Autodesk Sketchbook are the two best that I use. Gimp is very much like photoshop and harder for beginners. Sketchbook is simple and intuitive to use. You can easily get in the free version and have good pressure sensitivity response and create good pictures. Yes, the paid version gets you more features that are great but not essential for beginners. When you need to do more complicated painting and styles/brushwork with more layers, Krita works great. I think Krita is actually better than Sketchbook Pro because you can paint within selections, skew/transform multiple layers. I can't stand not being able to control painting regions in Sketchbook pro.

hello, i was using "pencil madness" which was a lot of fun; but my user name and password was messed up,i tried to get a new pass, and the dumb site locked me out!!!all i did was forget my pass, follow their instructions to get va new one, and i am having a "doreet" log in,and even a dashboard, but the stupid program won't let me draw!!!that;s how screwed up that site and software is.i can log in,go to dashboard, but not draw, i keep asking them to fix it, they either are too dumb to do it, or don;'t care.i've seen 11 yr. old Japanese kids put up drawing sites, and manage them better than this.so if you have any influence with "pencil madness" please ask them to fix my membership. thank you!!!obviously their software is not so good.too bad, its fun and good art there. thanks!!!!

I've been using krita for ages now, and i have not seen a problem with it, it released its new vision which allows animation, krita is made for more informed artists that use multiple programs, its open sourced and it very customization, although it sounds good there are some problems, krita can have its slow moments (like painting with a really large brush on a low end computer) krita is mostly designed for people with more experience like Photoshop, i would recommend it for beginners but when i first started digital art i started on krita and it was way beyond confusing but with some online help (youtube) understanding wasn't so hard, i would recommend it for more experienced artists as it has all the capable needs for a digital artiest, but a beginner would have just as much fun using krita to develop their inner creativeness. some problems i see is that krita doesn't really work with a surface tablet/laptop the pressure sensitivity from the surface pen doesn't seem too work, but that can change soon krita is known for developing updates that suit its users. another application i use is sketchbook, i don't know how much it cost me cause i got it in a bundle pack with my wacom, woulds just wonderfully, lacks features that krita has but is way still more recommended for simplistic people.

how do you erase on queeky without getting that checkerboard pattern
  • @ : omg um the checkerboard just means its transparent wow that basically means its clear if you dont know what that means it will do that on lots of software just sometimes it doesnt show it. if it bothers you idk put a white layer underneath all of it but it tells you where its actually white and where its transparent
