Sometimes we get bruises on our body - through unfortunate accidents or lack of concentration of our own. After the initial ordeal is over, we all look for ways to know how to make a bruise go away. If the injury is a minor one, we look for ways to heal the bruise and make the marks go away on our own rather than go to a doctor. In healing and making bruises disappear, most people prefer natural ways to medicines.

6 Tips on Healing a Bruise

There are a few tips on healing a bruise that could come handy in case of an inopportune injury.

Apply ice to the affected area immediately after the injury. However, remember that ice cubes should not be applied to any body part directly; rather, wrap the ice cubes into a piece of thin cloth and press lightly to the injured area for about 20 minutes.

If possible, elevate the injured area so that the blood doesn't rush to that location of the body. If the injury is on any of the limbs, like a hand or leg, rest it as much as you can.

Adding hot compress to the injured part of the body can help reduce swelling, if any. It also helps in regulating blood flow, especially if there's blood trapped under the skin.

Massage the injured area slowly and in circular motion if it is not too painful for you. Do this for 5 minutes every few hours until the muscle is relaxed.

To ease the swelling in the injured area, tie a piece of cloth lightly over it as a bandage. The bandage should be lightly bound so as not to put pressure on the wound.

A diet of Vitamin C and Vitamin K enriched fruits and vegetables can help bruises heal faster; these foods include strawberries, lemons, oranges, black currents, spinach, broccoli and cabbage.
