George Lucus has contributed to American culture with his trilogies of Star Wars. The immense popularity of these movies now includes books, TV series, comic and more. With a galaxy so very far away, Lucus turned an idea into a franchise of its own. But you may wonder what the correct order of all the Star Wars movies is. Let's find out together here.

List of All Star Wars Movies in Order

Here is an overview of all Star Wars movies in order by date.
1

Episode IV: A New Hope (1977)

This is the first one in Star Wars movies. Here we are introduced to Luke Skywalker for the first time. With a team of two droids, a wookie, a cocky pilot and a Jedi Knight, Luke must face the Empire’s battle station designed to destroy worlds. Adding to the plot is the beautiful Princess Leila who must be saved from the evil Darth Vader. With Obi-Wan Kenobi as his mentor, Luke learns how to overcome the Rebel Alliance. When Obi-Wan sacrifices himself in a lightsaber duel, Luke learns his most important lesson: a true hero will go to any means possible for the sake of what is good.

2

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

In the second Star Wars movie, the Empire has been forcefully overpowered by rebels on their new base. Master Yoda is Luke’s Jedi trainer with great wisdom. Now Luke must not save the princess but keep his team safe while Darth Vader is on the hunt for Luke. The cliff-hanger ending includes Han’s captured by bounty hunters, Luke being left unsure of where he came from, and who his biological family really is. Using a multi layered plot line and the exciting conclusion left Star Wars enthusiasts anticipating the next episode.

3

Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi (1983)

A daring mission to rescue Han Solo from the palace of Jabba, the Hut is successful and the team is reunited. Now they are on a mission to destroy the new, indestructible second Death Star. With an interesting twist, Luke is fighting an inner battle while attempting to bring Darth Vader from the dark side of the force. And the Ewoks that live in Endor, where is the location of the final battle, are on Luke’s side and ready to aid in battle.

4

Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999)

As the first prequel of the second trilogy, Lucus introduces the inter-galatic saga of how the light and dark side came to be. Obi-Wan is a young apprentice and Luke is known as the nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker. The audience is introduced to Qui-Gon and why it is believed that Luke is meant to be the leader of the Jedis. Anakin begins his long journey of learning about the force that will soon be the center of his life. While learning how to balance his life, the dormant Sith comes back to retrieve the glory they once had.

5

Episode II: Attack Of The Clones (2002)

It has been ten years since the Battle of Naboo, and a great secret is unmasked–a clone army has been crafted for the Jedi. While Obi-Wan is in a deep investigation into an assassination attempt on the Senator Padme, Anakin falls in love with the forbidden Padme (the ex-Naboo Queen). The Galactic Republic is in turmoil and the galaxy is on the brink of civil war. The young Anakin is training hard with the forces of the Jedi in fear that the Jedi code he follows will forbid his new love.

6

Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (2005)

This one was produced almost a decade ago, and is the last one of Star Wars movies to date. In this episode, we find Anakin feels he is not a true Jedi and gives in to his inner emotions by becoming Darth Vader. Obi-Wan and Padme are at risk due to the dark side inside of Anakin. The Clone Wars seem to be nearing an end when the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious appears, who is a part of the Dark side. Bringing the audience back to the original Star Wars, Lucus pairs Obi-Wan and Anakin to join the Republic forces to free Chancellor Palpatine from Count Dooku.

Here we have some exciting news for all the fans of Star Wars movies: there will be a new Star Wars Movie coming out in 2015, The Force Awakens. We still have to wait for quite a long while, but as a fan, I just can't help getting excited.
