You may have heard that soaps and facial cleansers contains harmful components, which may do some damage to you for long-period usage. Have you ever thought about washing face with only water? What will happen if you start doing that? Some may feel that they have a dirty face without using soap, which is not true. Moreover, there are a lot of benefits and advantages of washing face with just water.

Why Should You Try Wash Face with Water Only?

The top layer of your skin is something that keeps the moisture inside. The pH of human skin is normally acidic in nature. The pH of human skin ranges from 4 to 6. However, the internal environment of the skin has a near-neutral pH level at 7 to 9. This means that there is at least a 2 – 3 units worth of difference between the upper layers of the skin and the lower layers of the skin.

What many people do not know is the fact that the moisture in your skin does not come from the outside by moisturizing your skin; in fact, it naturally comes from inside the body. The moisturizers that you use function in a way that they reinforce the skin into bringing water in. The top layer of the skin plays the most important part in that regard, however, when you scrub your skin or when you foam it and use soap on it, the top layer of the skin goes off or gets damaged. This is one of the main reasons as to why you should wash your face with water only.

How to Wash Face with Water Only

Step 1: Wash your face with the right water

Not all types of water are suitable to wash face. Too hot or too cold water will make your skin dry. Therefore, you need to wash your face with lukewarm water, only then you can reap the full benefits of washing your face with only water.

People usually don't drink tap water directly, for it is not good for your inside body. Then just try to not wash your face with tap water as it contains things that may end up damaging your skin. It is best to opt for boiling the tap water before you use it so that all germs in it are already killed off before they come in contact with your skin. Also note that cool the boiled water to a comfortable temperature before using it.

Step 2: Add salt to the water

Salt by nature is anti-bacterial which means that any pimples, impurities or spots on your face will automatically vanish if you add some salt to your water. Simply stir when you add, then wash your face with it. The same way goes with sea salt. It also helps in the exfoliation and the toning of the skin.

Step 3: Apply some olive oil to your skin

You can moisturize your skin by dabbing two pea-sized drops of olive oil on your face. You can leave it for 15 minutes before you wash it off with lukewarm water. You can also keep it on if it does not feel too sticky to you.

Step 4: Add sugar to water twice a week

You can also exfoliate your skin twice a week by using sugar as a substitute for salt. Add salt to water is fine, but it is best to add sugar at least once or twice a week for optimal results. Just add a small handful of sugar to the water, stir and then wash your face with that mixture. You can also apply it on your lips to make them smooth and elastic.

Other Cleaning Options

Instead of just washing your face with water you can make a little more effort and go for some other cleaning options as well instead of solely relying on cosmetics. You can use the following alternatives to gain flawless skin:
1

Wash face with oil

You can use natural oils as cleansers to remove the dirt or even makeup from your face. Oils can even work on removing the waterproof mascara on your face. Olive oil is a great choice!

2

Find cleaners with no bad sulfates

Anything that produces foam is never good for your skin. Try some natural and a little creamy cleaners containing no bad sulfates like sodium lauryl sulfate and other unfriendly sulfate cousins. You will not feel dramatic changes instantly, yet the less harsh regimen will improve your skin conditions for long periods.
